Saints Row 2 allows the user to re-assign control functions. This option is located on the Main Menu or in the Pause Menu under Options>Controls. Keyboard controls can be reconfigured under the Controls Setup menu. Gamepad controls can be configured under the Gamepad Controls Setup menu. The default Gamepad controls mimic the Microsoft Xbox 360 Controller default layout for the Xbox 360 version of Saints Row 2.

2.2.3 Optimizing Performance
---------------------------------

* To optimize performance on machine specifications that are below the recommended requirements, it is advisable that the user play with the following settings:

Resolution: 800x600
Fullscreen: Yes
Graphics Quality: Low
(Alternatively, the user can tweak individual graphical options by switching the Graphics Quality to Custom and modifying the Advanced Graphical Options listed at the bottom of the Display Settings menu)

Along with these settings, the user should run Saints Row 2 with as few background programs as possible. These programs can severely impact performance. An example of this would be an Anti-Virus program performing a scan.

* Multiplayer and CO-OP will perform best without background programs using the internet connection.

* Turning V-Sync off in the graphical options will improve performance.

2.3 Multiplayer
-----------------

2.3.1 Online / Gamespy
--------------------------

To play Saints Row 2 online, the user will have to register with GameSpy. This can be done two ways:

Within Saints Row 2:
1. In either the CO-OP Online or Multiplayer Online login menu, select
"Create Account"
2. Input your preferred email, password(NOT the password to your email),
and nickname.
3. Select "Create Account" to finish. If successful, you will receive a prompt stating so and can continue to Login. If unsuccessful, please correct the field indicated in the Error prompt.

Both Multiplayer and CO-OP games can be made private by inputting a Session Password before starting your online session.

2.3.1.1 Server Browser
--------------------------

In order to search for online sessions to join, you will have to use the built in Server Browser. This Server Browser contains useful information in describing the game sessions being hosted.

Server Name - The chosen name to describe the session
Server IP - The IP which the server is transmitting from
Game Mode - The type of match the server is playing
Server Ping - The network latency between your computer and the server. A high ping is undesirable and may lead to a less enjoyable experience.

General:
All Server Browsers contain filters located at the top of the screen which the player may change in order to find a desired game type.

Private games found in the Server Browser will have a padlock icon next to the Server Name to indicate that they are Password Protected.

The Server Filter can be used to limit your search results by partial Server Name matches, and also allows you to sort the Server Browser by either Server Name or Ping.

CO-OP:
Located under the CO-OP>Online>Find Game menu, the player is able to search for either Public and Private games.

Multiplayer:
Multiplayer contains two Server Browsers.

"Find Game" is used to search for Player Matches that will not count towards your Rank nor reward you with money to further customize your online avatar.
"Find Ranked Game" is used to search for Ranked Matched which can be played to earn money to customize your online avatar and improve in Rank.

Located at the top of both Server Browsers are filters to help the player find the Game Mode that they wish to play.

2.3.1.2 Text Chat
--------------------

For Multiplayer and CO-OP games, you can talk to other players through the in-game Text Chat function. The chat input can be activated pressing Y to talk to everyone in the MP game or T to talk to only your teammates.

2.3.1.3 Leaderboards
------------------------

Located under the Multiplayer>Online menu while logged in is the Leaderboards. The Leaderboards are a tool which you can use to view and compare stats of online players.

2.3.1.4 Customize Player
----------------------------

Located under the Multiplayer>Online menu while logged in is the "Customize Player" menu. Within this menu, you can find various tools to customize your avatar displayed when playing online multiplayer matches.

Plastic Surgeon - The player is able to change their sex, race, body shape, face, and personality of their avatar here. The player may also import their Single Player character from their latest saved game.

Store - Using money earned from playing online matches, the player may purchase new clothing to change the look of their avatar to their preference. More clothing options are unlocked as the player
gains rank, through playing online matches.

Wardrobe - The player is able to browse through clothes they've purchased from the Store. Colors, Logos, and Wear Options can be changed when selecting each individual clothing item. The player may also change their "Badge" in the Wardrobe. Badges are obtained by performing certain special actions or by ranking up.
