Here is the official The Settlers 7 - Paths to a Kingdom readme file.

Thank you for purchasing "THE SETTLERS 7 - PATHS TO A KINGDOM". In this document you will find general information about the game. Included is some information that is not in the manual due to the production process.

1. FIRST STEPS

PC


Installation

Place the DVD into your DVD-ROM drive and wait for the autorun menu to start.
If the autorun menu does not start automatically, click on START in your Windows® taskbar and select RUN.
Enter “D:\autorun.exe” and click OK. The autorun menu will appear. If your DVD-ROM drive has a different drive letter than “D”, change it accordingly.
Select INSTALL.
Follow the installation instructions.

Starting the Game
On Windows 2000/XP go to: START > PROGRAMS > UBISOFT > THE SETTLERS 7 and select “The Settlers 7 - Paths to a Kingdom”.

On Windows Vista go to: START > PROGRAMS > GAMES > GAMES EXPLORER and select “The Settlers 7 - Paths to a Kingdom”.


MAC

Installation

Ensure you are logged in using an account which has administrative privileges.
Place the DVD into your DVD-ROM drive and wait for the disk to open. If it does not open automatically, double-click the disk icon on your desktop.
Double-click the game’s installer icon and follow the installation instructions.

Starting the Game
Open a Finder window and navigate to your “The Settlers 7 - Paths to a Kingdom” folder in ‘Applications’.
Double-click the “The Settlers 7 - Paths to a Kingdom” application.



2. THE MAIN MENU

Profile

You can view and manage information regarding you player profile here. For each ubi.com account you can create one player profile within the game. In this way, you always have access to your saved games, unlocked extras as well as your messages and friends list, no matter which computer you used to log in. Of course the name and title you choose for you player profile can be altered as often as you like.

Quick Play
Start an instant game versus the computer using random settings.

Extras
Here you can unlock additional content by entering a specific key. Once unlocked and downloaded, the additional content is stored in the respective menu and permanently available on your profile.

Uplay
The Settlers 7 - Paths to a Kingdom supports UplayWin.
Find out how you can gather UplayWin units by playing The Settlers 7 - Paths to a Kingdom.
A Settlers 7 - Paths to a Kingdom wallpaper, increased resources, new castle forge elements and an additional multiplayer map can be unlocked with your UplayWin units. Once unlocked and downloaded, the additional content is stored in the appropriate menu and permanently available on your profile. Uplay units gathered by playing The Settlers 7 - Paths to a Kingdom can also be used to unlock additional content of other games that support Uplay.

Castle Forge
Don’t just build your own kingdom, create your own royal residence! A castle created with the castle forge tool is not only the origin of your settlement, but also a very unique identifying feature within the game. After unlocking additional castle elements, you can find them here.

Map Forge
The map forge tool offers you the possibility to alter and adjust existing maps. Change the victory requirements and resources to create a personalised gaming experience for you and your friends. Once you have unlocked additional maps and map options, you can find them here.

Shop
By successfully accomplishing matches, you gather coins which can be used to unlocked additional content in the shop. Additional items that have been selected and downloaded via the shop can be found in the respective menus and are permanently available on your profile. The Shop also provides an overview of your already unlocked items.

4. IMPORTANT INFORMATION
To be able to display the manual you need the Adobe® Reader®. You can download it here: www.adobe.com.

Important: Always have the latest hardware driver installed on your system. You can find the latest drivers for graphic cards at the NVIDIA (www.nvidia.com) or ATI (www.ati.com) homepage.

We recommend installing the following hot fix for Windows Vista: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940105.

If you have an AMD Athlon™ 64/FX processor and use Windows XP, we strongly recommend installing the latest driver. Get it at www.amd.com.

It might be necessary to forward the following port to your router: 9103 UDP.


Default keyboard shortcuts

Delete / End = Rotate camera
Page Up / Down = Zoom camera
Backspace = Reset camera angles

Home = Jump to home castle
Space = Jump to last message position
Enter = Enter / Leave overview
P = Pause / Resume game

1 = Select general 1
2 = Select general 2
3 = Select general 3
4 = Select general 4

Y = Deploy Residence
X = Deploy Noble Residence
C = Deploy Storehouse

F5 = Quick save
Ctrl + F5 = Quick load



5. CUSTOMER SUPPORT

If you experience difficulties playing your Ubisoft game please contact our 24-hour on-line solution centre at http://support.ubi.com first.
Our support team can be reached on 0871 664 1000 (national rate) from 11am-8pm Mon-Fri (excluding bank holidays).

PC Game:
If you are experience difficulties running your PC game, please contact our support teams first. When calling us, please ensure you are situated at your PC with the game installed to enable us to troubleshoot for you.

Alternatively, if contacting us by web-mail please attach your operating system file (dxdiag) to your incident so that we are aware of your system specification.
If you experience a return to the desktop, freezing with jerky graphics or error messages, we will need to see your operating system file as there may be a discrepancy between your operating system and the required game specifications.

To find your Dxdiag file:
Windows XP: To open your DirectXDiagnostic tool go to: Start – Run –type dxdiag in the white box, select OK to save for your information.
Windows Vista: go to Start, type dxdiag in the search bar to locate the file.
Save this file to a convenient place on your PC and send as an attachment when contacting us by web-mail.

If you need any help with this at all, please call our support team for assistance and one of our agents will be pleased to help you.

Faulty Game:
If you believe your game is faulty please contact our support team before returning your product to the retailer.

Damaged Game:
If your game is damaged at purchase please return to your retailer with a valid receipt for advice on replacement.

If your receipt has expired and you are within the 90-day warranty period please contact the Ubisoft support team for verification.

Please note that we do not offer hints & tips at our technical support centre. These can often be found free of charge on the Internet.




6. UNINSTALLING THE GAME

PC
Windows XP
Click START in your Windows taskbar and choose “Remove The Settlers 7 - Paths to a Kingdom” from your “The Settlers 7” program folder and follow the instructions.

Windows Vista
For Windows Vista you need to follow these steps:
Go to START > SETTINGS > CONTROL PANEL > PROGRAM AND
FEATURES
Select “The Settlers 7 - Paths to a Kingdom”
Select uninstall
Follow the instructions.

Windows 7
Select "The Settlers 7 - Paths to a Kingdom" from START > CONTROL PANEL > PROGRAMS and click the uninstall button, then follow the instructions.

MAC
Ensure you are logged in using an account which has administrative privileges.
Open a Finder window and select ‘Applications’
Delete the “The Settlers 7 - Paths to a Kingdom” folder
