III. Supported Controllers
----------------------------------------

We recommend the following controllers for the best game play experience:

-Microsoft X360 controller for Windows

Leisure Suit Larry™ provides default configurations for the above, meaning that you should be able to plug-and-play, with no tweaking required.

----------------------------------------
IV. Installation Instructions
----------------------------------------

It is advisable to close down all applications before either starting the installation or running the game. Not doing so may cause the game to lose focus or run poorly.

Place the Leisure Suit Larry™ disc into your DVD drive and close the disc tray. If you have Autorun enabled on your PC, the game should launch automatically – simply click ‘Install’ to continue.

If Autorun is disabled, open up ‘My Computer’ from the desktop or start menu. From there, double click on the icon for your DVD drive to explore the contents of the disc. Locate the file called ‘Setup.exe’ and double click it to begin installation.

Leisure Suit Larry™ requires the presence of DirectX 9c on your system in order to run. Your version of DirectX will be automatically updated (if required) during installation. The DirectX 9.0c redistributable is also available on the game disc.

Once you have launched the game you can alter your audio and input device settings from within the Options Menu.

Graphics options can be modified from the external configuration utility.
XP: Go to start, Codemasters, Leisure Suit Larry, Graphics options.
Vista: Go to start, Games (Games explorer), right click the Leisure Suit Larry™ icon, Graphics options.

V. Known issues/Troubleshooting
----------------------------------------

I) The game won’t install!

If you find that you are getting ‘file not found’ errors (or other similar messages) during installation, it may be that your DVD drive is malfunctioning. There are several simple tests you can perform to verify this:

• Does the same disc install correctly on a different PC?
• Does the same disc install on your PC using a different DVD drive?
• If you browse the DVD manually, can you locate the ‘missing’ file?
• Try copying the contents of your disc directly onto your hard drive – do you get a standard Windows
‘Insert disc’ error (or similar) whilst copying?

If any of the above tests succeed, then it is highly probable that there is an issue with your DVD drive. Such problems may not manifest themselves with all discs, so even if other games appear to install correctly then this may still be the case.

To install or uninstall the game you will need administrative privileges within Windows. On Windows Vista, simply enter the administrator password if and when you are prompted for it. On Windows XP, log on as an administrator before running Setup.

II) Problems running the game

To play Leisure Suit Larry™ you must have administrative privileges.
On Windows Vista, launch the game from the shortcut in the games explorer which can be found in the start menu. If requested enter the Administrator password.
On windows XP, running the game as a non-admin user can cause errors and is not recommended. Instead, log on
as the system administrator and run the game from the shortcut on the Desktop or Start Menu.

III) How do I switch between Full screen and Window mode?

To switch between window mode and full screen hold ALT and press ENTER.

IV) Visible shearing/tearing

You may experience tearing across the picture. This will occur if you have forced V-sync to off in your graphics card control panel (see Poor Frame-Rate to access this panel).

V) Poor Frame-Rate

If the game runs at an unsatisfactory frame rate, try lowering the game resolution in the options menu as well as disabling any advanced features such as: Foliage and Full detail characters.

Advanced users may also want to tweak the settings in your ATI or Nvidia control panel. For ATI this is accessed by right clicking the desktop then choosing Catalyst™ Control Centre. For Nvidia users right click the desktop and choose Nvidia Control Panel.

You may try manually lowering the resolution to 640x480 by doing the following:

Navigate to your LUengine.ini file

Vista
...\Users\<user name>\Documents\My Games\LeisureSuitLarry\LUGame\Config

XP
...\Documents and Settings\<user name>\My Documents\My Games\Leisure Suit Larry\LUGame\Config

Open the file and find (ctrl+f) the line “Resx=”

Modify to the following:

ResX=640
ResY=480

Save and close.

Disabling shadows can also improve performance. Navigate to the LUEngine.ini file and find the following line:
DynamicShadows=True

Change this line to:
DynamicShadows=False

Save and close.

You may further tweak settings in this file but it is not supported or recommended by Codemasters or Funsta.

VI) I receive the message “Not enough memory”

You do not have enough ram available to run the game. Please check you have the minimum amount of ram required to run the game according to your operating system.

VII) Why can’t I choose a higher screen resolution?

The resolutions available in the options menu will depend on what your monitor is capable of displaying. Generally if the resolution is not present then the game has detected your monitor does not support the resolution.

VIII) Is ATI’s Crossfire or NVIDIA’s SLI supported?

Unfortunately, this feature is not supported.

IX) My Xbox 360 Controller does not vibrate

Please make sure you have the latest Microsoft Xbox 360 Controller for Windows drivers installed. In the options menu under Controls make sure Vibration is set to ON.

x) Graphical corruption

On some Nvidia cards there may be graphical corruption in areas with grass / plants. This has been noted on the Geforce 7 series and is a result of a bug in the graphics driver. Future driver releases may resolve this issue.
Meanwhile, you can hide the corruption by disabling foliage in the external graphics configuration utility.

Vista
Right click games explorer -> choose graphics options -> un-check foliage.

XP
Select Start menu -> Programs -> Codemasters -> Leisure Suit Larry -> graphics options -> un-check foliage.

----------------------------------------
VI. Saved Games
----------------------------------------

When you start a game in Leisure Suit Larry™, an Autosave is created and stored in your documents folder. Any configuration data is also saved in this location. Each user account on the PC has its own save and configuration data.

You should have no need to edit these files on your system, but for advanced users they can be found in the following default locations:

XP
...\Documents and Settings\<user name>\My Documents\My Games\Leisure Suit Larry\...

Vista
...\Users\<user name>\Documents\My Games\Leisure Suit Larry\...

Moving these files between users and systems however is not encouraged or supported.
