III. Supported Controllers
----------------------------------------

We recommend the following controllers for the best game play experience:

-Microsoft X360 controller for Windows

Overlord II provides default configurations for the above, meaning that you should be able to plug-and-play, with no tweaking required.

----------------------------------------
IV. Installation Instructions
----------------------------------------

It is advisable to close down all applications before either starting the installation or running the game. Not doing so may cause the game to lose focus or run poorly.

Place the Overlord II disc into your DVD drive and close the disc tray. If you have Autorun enabled on your PC, the game should launch automatically – simply click ‘Install’ to continue.

If Autorun is disabled, open up ‘My Computer’ from the desktop or start menu. From there, double click on the icon for your DVD drive to explore the contents of the disc. Locate the file called ‘Setup.exe’ and double click it to begin installation.
Overlord II requires the presence of DirectX 9.0c on your system in order to run. Your version of DirectX will be automatically updated (if required) during installation. The DirectX 9.0c redistributable is also available on the game disc.

Once you have launched the game you can alter your audio and input device settings from within the Options Menu.

Graphics options can be modified from the external configuration utility.
XP: Go to start, Codemasters, Overlord II, Configure.
Vista: Go to start, Games (Games explorer), right click the Overlord II icon, Configure.

--------------------------------------------
V. Controls
--------------------------------------------

KEYBOARD - DEFAULT CONTROLS
---------------------------

Keyboard controls are listed in the Overlord II manual.

GAMEPADS
--------

Overlord is designed to support the Xbox 360 Controller for Windows. To ensure it is set up correctly.
- Run Start Menu -> Programs -> Codemasters -> Overlord II -> Config
- Select the Controls tab
- Select “Gamepad”
- Click “Save & Play”

Many other gamepads are also compatible, however they must have at least two analog sticks, and 15 distinct button inputs.
You will also need to configure the gamepad before play.
- Run Start Menu -> Programs -> Codemasters -> Overlord II -> Config
- Select the Controls tab
- Select “Gamepad (Configurable)”
- Now click the “Configure” button. A new window will appear which allows you to select a button for each of the actions
- Click the button to the left of the action you wish to Configure (it will now say “Scanning”)
- Press the gamepad input that you want to perform that action
- Repeat this for all actions
- Click “Ok” to return to the main Overlord Config tool
- Click “Save & Play”

NOTES:
- You may need to update your gamepad drivers in order to map all the buttons on your controller.
- You may not be able to map all the buttons to your controller. In this instance you can leave them blank, however you will not be able to use them in game. “Pause Menu” is a good one not to map, as the ESCAPE key has the same function in game.

----------------------------------------
VI. Known issues/Troubleshooting
----------------------------------------

I) The game won’t install!

If you find that you are getting ‘file not found’ errors (or other similar messages) during installation, it may be that your DVD drive is malfunctioning. There are several simple tests you can perform to verify this:

• Does the same disc install correctly on a different PC?
• Does the same disc install on your PC using a different DVD drive?
• If you browse the DVD manually, can you locate the ‘missing’ file?
• Try copying the contents of your disc directly onto your hard drive – do you get a standard Windows
‘Insert disc’ error (or similar) whilst copying?

If any of the above tests succeed, then it is highly probable that there is an issue with your DVD drive. Such problems may not manifest themselves with all discs, so even if other games appear to install correctly then this may still be the case.

To install or uninstall the game you will need administrative privileges within Windows. On Windows Vista, simply enter the administrator password if and when you are prompted for it. On Windows XP, log on as an administrator before running Setup.

II) Problems running the game

To play Overlord II you must have administrative privileges.
On Windows Vista, launch the game from the shortcut in the games explorer which can be found in the start menu. If requested enter the Administrator password.
On windows XP, running the game as a non-admin user can cause errors and is not recommended. Instead, log on
as the system administrator and run the game from the shortcut on the Desktop or Start Menu.

III) Visible shearing/tearing

You may experience tearing across the picture. This will occur if you have forced V-sync to off in your graphics card control panel.

IV) I receive the message “Not enough memory”

You do not have enough ram available to run the game. Please check you have the minimum amount of ram required to run the game according to your operating system.

V) Why can’t I choose a higher screen resolution?

The resolutions available in the options menu will depend on what your monitor is capable of displaying. Generally if the resolution is not present then the game has detected your monitor does not support the resolution.

VI) Is ATI’s Crossfire or NVIDIA’s SLI supported?

Unfortunately, this feature is not supported.

VII) My Xbox 360 Controller does not vibrate

Please make sure you have the latest Microsoft Xbox 360 Controller for Windows drivers installed. In the options menu under Controls make sure Vibration is set to ON.

--------------------------------------------
VII. Performance Issues
--------------------------------------------

Overlord II requires at least 1 GB of RAM and a 3.4 Ghz Pentium D or AMD equivalent processor. The performance of the game will improve if you have more RAM, a faster processor and graphics card. Regardless of your machine specs, you can maximise your available memory and increase the overall performance of the game by doing the following:

• Shut down all non-essential Windows programs especially online
chat programs, virus checkers and screen layout utilities.
• Regularly defragment your hard drive.
• Increase your amount of free hard drive space.

If you are experiencing poor performance on a low-end graphics card (see the ordered list of cards above)...

• Reduce the game resolution in the Overlord II Configuration program to 800x600.
• We recommend using low or medium options in the overlord 2 configuration panel. If you are still having difficulties select "Custom" in the Video tab of the Overlord Configuration program and turn off or set to Low the various options, particularly:

Shadows
View Distance
Soil Cover

• Turning these options on again one by one will reveal which are causing the problems, and
this will allow you to get the most from your card.

Always ensure you are using up-to-date drivers for your graphics card:

• For ATi cards, download drivers from: www.ati.amd.com/drivers
• For nVidia cards, download drivers from: www.nvidia.com/drivers

----------------------------------------
VIII. Saved Games
----------------------------------------

When you start a game in Overlord II, an Autosave is created and stored in your documents folder. Any configuration data is also saved in this location. Each user account on the PC has its own save and configuration data.

You should have no need to edit these files on your system, but for advanced users they can be found in the following default locations:

XP
...\Documents and Settings\<user name>\My Documents\My Games\Overlord II\...

Vista
...\Users\<user name>\Documents\My Games\Overlord II\...

Moving these files between users and systems however is not encouraged or supported.
