INTRO
In the game you assume the role of Governor General, a leader of one of the
East India Companies. The goal of the game is to bring wealth and new colonies
to your company and make it the dominant one within a given time limit.
This is accomplished by organizing profitable trade routes to East Indies and
back along with using political skills. However, being that there are seven other
companies with the same intentions, armed conflicts and outright wars are unavoidable.

INSTALLING THE GAME
• Start your computer and insert the DVD of East India Company in your DVD-ROM drive.
The Launch menu will start automatically. Left-click on the Install button. Follow the on-screen
instructions to install the game.
• If Autoplay is not activated, start the setup program by double clicking on My Computer,
the icon of your DVD-ROM drive and then Launcher.exe.
• Once the game has been installed, you can start the game from the Windows Start menu (XP), Windows
Games Explorer (Vista) or by inserting the DVD of East India Company.
• WARNING: The game is copy protected. Valid email-address and product key is required for game
activation.

UNINSTALLING THE GAME
Select Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel. Select East India Company, then click Add/Remove.
This will uninstall the main program and the data files, but will not remove files created by
the player during the game (such as saved games). These specific files can be removed manually under
the My Documents -folder of each user profile.

TROUBLESHOOTING
You will find below a list of suggestions to help you solve problems related to the use of this software.
If these should not solve the problem, we suggest you contact technical support.
If your computer crashes or you encounter display problems while playing, we suggest you try the following:
• Update your East India Company to the latest version.
- From the main menu, click "Options" and then "Check for Updates".
- Go to www.eic-game.com and look for "Download" section.
• Reboot your computer (reset) before you continue to play.
• Contact the manufacturer of your graphic card in order to install the most up-to-date drivers.
• Contact the manufacturer of your sound card in order to install the most up-to-date drivers.
PROBLEMS RELATED TO GRAPHIC CARDS
GENERAL ADVICE
If you should encounter display problems while playing, we recommend you install the most recent drivers for
your graphic card. These are generally available on the hardware manufacturer’s web site. For additional
information, please refer to your hardware documentation or contact your vendor.
If you still encounter problems after updating the drivers, you can try to use the reference drivers provided
by the chipset manufacturer. These drivers are generally not supported by the graphic card manufacturer and
have to be installed at your own risk. If unsure, contact your graphic card manufacturer’s technical support
before doing anything.
For further information about your graphic card’s chipset, please refer to your hardware documentation or
contact your vendor.
PROBLEMS RELATED TO SOUND CARDS
GENERAL ADVICE
If you should encounter any sound related problems while playing, we recommend you install the most recent
drivers for your sound card. These are generally available in your sound card manufacturer’s web site. For
further information, please refer to your hardware documentation or contact your vendor.
UPDATING YOUR DRIVERS
In order for your computer and software to function correctly you must update your drivers on a regular basis.
If you should encounter problems related to GRAPHICS with East India Company, make sure you have the most
up-to-date drivers for your graphic card before you call technical support. You can find more information
by right clicking on "My Computer" in the desktop and selecting “Properties”. Select the “Device Manager”
tab and click the plus sign (+) next to “Sound, video and game controllers”. The name of your graphic card
will appear. Select it, click “Properties”, “Driver” and “Update Driver”.
You may have to download the latest drivers from your graphic card manufacturer’s web site.
